Talsma Named “Clerk of the Year” by the Michigan Association of County Clerks

MARQUETTE -- One of Superiorland’s own has just been awarded a prestigious state-wide honor for the governmental work she does.
The Michigan Association of County Clerks recently its at their annual conference at The Highlands in Harbor Springs, Michigan for continuing education briefings, elect a new slate of leaders and reveal the Michigan Association of County Clerks 2026 Clerk of the Year. This year, the honor was bestowed upon Marquette County Clerk Linda Talsma.
“Being chosen clerk of the year by my fellow clerks is just such an amazing honor. We work side-by-side on so many issues,” Talsma told The Mining Journal. “My counterparts around the state, I couldn’t do my job without them.”
Kimberly A. Hinkley, Calhoun County clerk and current president of MACC, applauded Talsma’s selection.
"We have so many wonderful county clerks in Michigan that it is often an impossible task to choose just one,” Hinkley said in a written statement. "Clerk Talsma is a worthy choice for this honor and we look forward to even greater things from her in the years to come."
The Clerk of the Year Committee, a group made up of the past five recipients of the award, selects the Clerk of the Year based on criteria formulated by the Michigan Association of County Clerks Board of Directors and from nominations by Michigan County Clerks and committee members.
The award recipient exemplifies the best qualities of Michigan's 83 elected County Clerks, who work tirelessly to ensure that Michigan's elections are run safely and smoothly, in addition to their other responsibilities as custodians of vital records, Clerks to County Boards of Commissioners and Clerks of the Circuit Court, a MACC press release notes.
