MARQUETTE -- The Law Enforcement Torch Run made its way through the Marquette area on Tuesday morning.
"The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the single largest grassroots fundraising effort for Special Olympics International," reads the Special Olympics of Michigan website. "The two main goals of the Law Enforcement Torch Run are to raise funds and create awareness for the athletes who participate in Special Olympics Michigan."
The event is a 750-mile, continuous relay that runs from Copper Harbor down to Belle Isle in Detroit.
"Flame of Hope Week is an opportunity for law enforcement, corrections personnel, and community members to run shoulder to shoulder, raising money and awareness for Special Olympics Michigan athletes," the website states.
