MARQUETTE -- Jeni Kilpela has been named executive director of the Noquemanon Trail Network, moving into the permanent leadership position after several months serving as interim executive director.
Kilpela joined NTN in 2023 as outreach coordinator and has since played a key role in developing relationships with members, businesses, landowners and community partners while helping support the growth and stewardship of the trail network.
"I am honored to serve as executive director and to continue working alongside our staff, volunteers, board, landowners, members and partners," Kilpela said. "Together, we will build on NTN's strong foundation while ensuring our trails remain a lasting resource for future generations."
During her time as interim executive director, Kilpela focused on strengthening relationships with landowners and community partners, supporting NTN staff and volunteers and advancing the organization's mission of maintaining and protecting the region's trail systems.
Wally Pearson, president of the NTN Board of Directors, said Kilpela's ability to work with landowners, staff and volunteers while keeping NTN's mission at the forefront of decisions has strengthened the organization.
"Jeni has shown exactly the kind of positive leadership NTN needs as we look to the future," said Pearson. "She understands that our trails are built on trust, stewardship, and community. The board is thrilled to have Jeni leading us into our next chapter."
Kilpela brought a background in communications, public service and community engagement to NTN when she joined the organization. Her leadership has centered on collaboration and maintaining the partnerships needed to sustain the nonprofit's extensive network of non-motorized trails in Marquette County.
The leadership change comes as NTN continues efforts to connect residents and visitors with outdoor recreation while responsibly managing the region's trail systems and strengthening relationships with the landowners and community organizations that make trail access possible.
Founded in 2001, NTN is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing, maintaining and stewarding a sustainable network of non-motorized trails throughout Marquette County.
The network provides year-round opportunities for biking, hiking, running, skiing and other outdoor activities through partnerships with landowners, volunteers, businesses and community organizations.
The organization also emphasizes protecting access to the lands that support those recreational opportunities, while promoting trails as a resource that contributes to the region's communities, health and quality of life.
