MARQUETTE -- Veterans and community members will join forces Oct. 12 for a day of service as Marquette County Habitat for Humanity hosts its first annual Veterans Build.
The Veterans Build combines military and community service in an effort to strengthen neighborhoods and help local families achieve safe and affordable housing. The event is scheduled from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at a Habitat for Humanity construction site in Marquette, with the specific location to be announced.
Veterans from all branches of the military are invited to participate, along with their families, friends and other community members. The goal is to bring people together to help build safe, affordable housing for local families while giving veterans an opportunity to continue a tradition of service and camaraderie.
No construction experience is necessary. Habitat for Humanity will provide the tools, training and guidance needed for volunteers to take part in the work.
The day also will include a complimentary barbecue lunch, with meat provided by Lofaro's. Finding Feathers will provide live lunchtime music and Campfire Coffee is donating coffee for participants.
There is no cost to participate.
