GWINN -- Forsyth Forward, a non-profit organization in Forsyth Township, has received a $100,000 grant from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development toward the creation of a non-motorized, multi-use path connecting Gwinn, Little Lake and Sawyer.
"This funding will support the design, engineering, planning, and preliminary work needed to develop a safe, accessible trail connection between our three Forsyth Township communities," said a post from Forsyth Forward on Thursday.
"There is still a lot of work ahead, but this $100,000 investment is a huge step forward and allows us to begin doing the professional work necessary to turn this vision into something people will eventually be able to ride, walk and experience.
"We are incredibly grateful to MDARD, Forsyth Township, our project partners, community leaders, volunteers and everyone who has believed in the potential of this project. Forsyth Forward’s vision has always been 'Prosperity through partnerships.' This is what that looks like."
