MARQUETTE -- Big Bay is putting its best foot forward with the sixth annual Fall Fest on Saturday morning and afternoon at Draver Park just off Marquette County Road 550 on Hoffman Street in the northern Marquette County community.
The event, which runs from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., is put on by the Big Bay Stewardship Council.
It's a great way to enjoy views of Lake Superior with the fall colors that, according to an employee in the Powell Township office, are just starting to change on the way up from Marquette along Marquette County Road 550.
And of course, there's always the small-town hospitality that the community of Big Bay is known for.
She figures just about everybody in the area will stop by Fall Fest, which includes numerous activities for families, too. They include live music, a community car show, exhibitions by local organizations, and for the kids, a bounce house and face painting.
Food vendors will offers good edibles, while a number of artisans and craft vendors -- estimated to number more than 30 -- will display and offer their works for sale, much like the Outback Art Fair that takes place in Marquette during the summer, the Powell Township employee said.
The Big Bay Stewardship Council is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the natural, cultural and recreational resources of Big Bay. They achieve this through stewardship, community partnerships and sustainable tourism initiatives.
