Cycle crash injures 1 in Marquette

MARQUETTE -- One person was injured in a motorcycle crash that took place in the city of Marquette late Thursday.

At about 11:59 p.m. Thursday, officers with the Marquette Police Department responded to a crash involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Division Street and M-553, according to a written statement from MPD.

The preliminary investigation showed the crash occurred when the motorcycle, traveling westbound on Division Street, lost control, tipped over, resulting in the driver being ejected onto the pavement. The driver and motorcycle came to rest in the intersection with M-553.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 26-year-old Gwinn resident, was transported from the scene to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of serious injuries and remains hospitalized. MPD officers said the driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
