IRON RIVER -- One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash that took place early Monday morning near Iron River, police said.
One of the vehicles involved was a West Iron County school bus, which was legally stopped on U.S. 2, according to the Iron County Sheriff's Office.
The bus had been traveling on U.S. 2 near Sunset Lake Road at about 7 a.m. local time Monday, sheriff's office officials said in a written statement Monday afternoon. The bus' flashing lights were properly engaged at the time.
An approaching vehicle from the rear of the bus, a Saturn Aura, struck the rear of the bus. The bus reportedly contained only one student and the bus driver, neither of whom sustained injuries in the incident.
A 27-year-old woman, who was driving the Saturn, was transported by ambulance to the Aspirus hospital in Iron River for treatment of injuries sustained. Her condition was unknown late Monday.
The investigation into the incident continues.
Assisting at the scene of the accident was Michigan State Police, Iron County Central Dispatch, the West Iron County Fire Department and Aspirus EMS.
