FORSYTH TOWNSHIP -- A missing six-year-old girl was found safe by a multi-agency effort on Wednesday, along with some good old-fashioned luck.
At approximately 8:25 p.m. on Wednesday, the Forsyth Township Police Department and Emergency Services were dispatched to an area of Marquette County Road 456 and Setter Drive after receiving a report of a missing six-year-old girl.
It had been reported that the juvenile had gone outside to play with the family dogs. When she and the dogs had not returned, the family called 911 and immediately reported her missing.
A multi-agency search team responded, consisting of the Forsyth Township police, fire and EMS and Marquette County Sheriff's Office Special Operations Division.
The Michigan State Police from the Negaunee post, Gladstone post and the TST Unit along with the MSP Aviation Unit, Marquette County Central Dispatch and several community members and family of the missing juvenile began searching the area where the juvenile was last seen.
After several hours of searching, a member of the search team received a call from a family member who was alerted to movement on his trail camera, approximately half a mile south of the location where the juvenile had gone missing. The trail camera captured a positive image of the juvenile.
Search teams were then directed to that area near Ski Hill Road. The juvenile was located within a short time frame and determined to be in good health by the search teams and returned to her family.
The Forsyth Township Police and Emergency Services would like to extend a thank you to all the agencies involved in the search, along with the community and family members that came together to bring this little girl home safely to her family.
