Strut your Mutt charity walk to be held Oct. 3

MARQUETTE -- The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter has announced the date for its 21st annual Strut Your Mutt fundraiser. The walk will be held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 3 at Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette, with registration beginning at 9 a.m. The cost to register is $20 per person.
The event will feature refreshments for both people and pets, dog contests, including a costume contest and pet tricks, and prizes for the top three fundraisers in adult and youth categories. Every registered walker gets a goodie bag and a Strut branded bandana for their dog.
Participants who register by Sept. 25 are eligible to be selected as a "Leader of the Pack," and will lead off the walk. Registration will also be available at the event.
"Start raising pledges now," said UPAWS. "The more money you raise, the more you help our shelter pets, and you can win some great prizes at the same time."
