New fire truck to Richmond Township

PALMER -- Firefighting just got a bit easier in Richmond Township in Marquette County.
That's because the township fire department has taken delivery on a new pumper truck, said department Chief Dan Novak. The new Spencer-built pumper has been designated Unit 2091.
"We are proud to say we took delivery of the truck in mid July and has since been placed into service and appreciate the support of our township board, residence, and everyone who help make this project possible," Novak said. "With its combination of innovative design, dependable performance in advanced technology, Unit 2091 will serve as a front line response vehicle for structure, fires, vehicle fires, rural water, supply operations, and emergency Incidents throughout Richmond Township and surrounding area for many years to come."
Novak said department and township planners started laying the groundwork for purchasing the pumper in late 2023 and early 2024. The overall cost was $572,000, underwritten by the fire fund millage paid by township property owners.
Built on a Freightliner 114SD four-door chassis, Unit 2091 is powered by a Cummins L94, 450 horse power diesel engine and features a Spencer solid polyethylene body backed by a lifetime warranty.
Further, the truck truck is equipped with a Hale Q Max-XS 1,500 GPM fire pump and a 1,750 gallon water tank, providing exceptional firefighting capability for both rural and municipal responses.
