MENOMINEE -- A viral social media post involving suspicious contact with a child at Water Tower Park in Menominee got the attention of local authorities very quickly.
"We constantly share the public's concern for our children and understand the importance of their protection," the Menominee Police Department said in a statement on social media on Friday. "We have initiated our own investigation after becoming independently aware of the situation via social media and self-initiated conduct by the accused party. We have conducted several actions to resolve the matter.
"We are actively seeking additional information regarding the issue and encourage the public to come forward with any further details. We are committed to fully investigating this matter and will provide updates as facts become available.
"The Menominee PD is committed to an ongoing investigation and will disclose details as they become factual. We ask for your patience and understanding as we are committed to disclosing information without speculation."
