MARQUETTE -- On Wednesday, the city of Marquette released a survey to residents as part of the creation of its sustainable tourism plan.
The plan, once it's created, will address "how to keep what’s good about tourism, deal with what’s hard about it, protect the places we love, and make sure it works for the people who live here year-round," according to a post on the city's Facebook page.
The survey is anonymous, and addresses questions such as overall feelings about tourism, benefits and drawbacks of tourism and support for various hypothetical tourism management plans, including charging non-residents more than residents for use of city services and facilities and a small charge added to overnight stays going to local costs.
The survey is not only for city residents -- other residents of the county and visitors can also complete it.
At the end of the survey, there is an invitation to complete an additional form to be added to an email list for community workshops to be held this fall about the sustainable tourism plan.
The survey is available at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSflsP0PAp4-MZd_Tw5why5MwSKm_HvGYlzhWhimG2Qy5jaKWA/viewform?pli=1 or on the city of Marquette's Facebook page.
