MARQUETTE -- West Washington Street in downtown Marquette this week is undergoing a street improvement project including roadway milling, asphalt paving and structure adjustments between Third and Fourth streets.
As part of the work, that block of West Washington Street has been closed to traffic, but area businesses remain open and the sidewalk is accessible to pedestrians.
The work is being done by contractor Payne & Dolan, which released a statement saying that "to complete this work safely and efficiently, temporary traffic disruptions and intermittent delays will be necessary.
"We understand this may cause some inconvenience and sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve the roadway in your community. Our team is committed to minimizing disruptions and completing each area as quickly and safely as possible."
Work is expected to last one week and will occur from 6:30 a.m.-8 p.m.
