Distressed swimmers rescued in Bay Mills

BAY MILLS — The Bay Mills Police Department released a statement that detailed a rescue that occurred on Saturday.

“We had an emergency where several swimmers, including kids and an adult, who were in distress in Lake Superior (St. Mary’s River system),” read the statement. “Officers Weist, Goetz and Curtis arrived on scene and immediately jumped in and swam to assist them. Thankfully everyone was OK when it was over. Thank you to Officer’s Weist, Goetz, and Curtis for your actions and your service to our community.”

“We would also like to thank everyone else involved in this rescue! Those that swam out, those that lended their boats, those on scene and everything else! Chi-Miigwetch!”
