UPAWS at capacity, not accepting new dogs
GWINN — Upper Peninsula Animal Shelter has announced that, due to an emergency intake of 16 large dogs and additional cats on Tuesday from a potential neglect case, it will be temporarily suspending new dog intakes.
UPAWS asks the public to call law enforcement if they encounter a stray dog while intakes are suspended.
“Please adopt if you’re ready,” said UPAWS in its statement.
More information is available by emailing UPAWS at supervisors@upaws.org or by calling 906-475-6661.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding,” said UPAWS. “Our staff is responding to this emergency, and we will return emails and phone calls as quickly as possible.”
