Tahquamenon Area Schools teacher resigns after investigation
NEWBERRY — Tahquamenon Area Schools superintendent Shawn Tebo has released a statement on the recent resignation of a middle school teacher.
“On Wednesday, May 27, the Tahquamenon Area Schools became aware of allegations involving a middle school teacher’s conduct in the classroom,” said Tebo. “The district immediately began reviewing the matter in accordance with district policy. As part of that process, the district involved our school resource officer and local law enforcement.
“Following the investigation, the teacher has resigned and is no longer employed by the district. Because this is a personnel matter, we cannot share further details at this time.
“What we can share is that the safety and well being of our students is always our top priority. When concerns are brought forward, we take them seriously, review them promptly, and involve appropriate authorities when needed. We are grateful to those who reported this concern and helped ensure it could be addressed through the proper channels.
“Please know that we remain committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment for all students. If your child has questions or needs support, please contact the school office so we can connect them with the appropriate resources.”
