Marquette League of Women Voters to hold candidate forums

MARQUETTE — The Marquette chapter of the League of Women Voters will be hosting two public candidate forums for local primary elections next week. At 6 p.m. on July 8, a candidate forum for those running for Marquette County Commission will be held at the Marquette Township Community Center at 1000 Commerce Drive. At 6 p.m. on July 9, a candidate forum for those running for 96th District Court Judge will be held at Marquette’s City Commission Chambers at 300 W. Baraga St.
Doors for both events open at 5:30 p.m., and both events conclude at 7:30 p.m.
The July 8 forum will feature candidates Cody Mayer and Karl Numinen, who are running for the district 1 Marquette County Commission seat, and Fred Benzie, Randy Ritari and Jenna Smith, who are running for the district 3 seat.
The July 9 forum will feature candidates Patrick Crowley, William Nordeen and Derek Swajanen, who are all running for 96th District Court Judge.
The League of Women Voters will be moderating the forum, and all candidates will be answering the same questions submitted by constituents. Questions can be emailed to lwvmqtco@gmail.com by July 6, or can be submitted by members of the audience at the event.
The forums will also be livestreamed on the League of Women Voters’ youtube channel, www.youtube.com/@LWVMarquetteCounty.
Primary elections are Aug. 4, and general elections are Nov. 3.
