MUNISING — On March 13, an undercover operation was conducted by law enforcement personnel from the Alger County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Munising City Police Department, Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Forsyth Township Police Department.
The operation, modeled after Genessee County’s “Ghost” operations, was designed to target child predators through online chat rooms. Two suspects were arrested and charged.
“I am extremely proud of the cooperative effort from law enforcement in these cases. Every arrest made pursuant to these operations is a step closer to a safer community,” said Alger County Sheriff Todd Brock. “The message is that anyone intent on harming children will be met with the full force of law.”
The operation resulted in the arrest of Anthony Walter Drown of East Jordan and Bob B. Nesim of Levittown, Pennsylvania. Each defendant was charged with child sexually abusive activity, accosting a minor for immoral purposes and multiple counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
The statutory maximum on the highest count is 20 years. They were each arraigned on March 15 before the 93rd District Court in Munising.
