MUNISING — Names of the people involved in the house fire in the city of Munising Thursday night that killed one house occupant have not been released, police said late Friday.

The deceased, a three year old, died in the home that burned on West Superior Street, according to Alger County officials. Dispatched by Alger County Central Dispatch, firefighters arrived on scene just before 6 p.m. Thursday but the structure was fully engulfed by the fire.

Firefighters departed the scene at about 11 p.m. The investigation into the cause of the fire continues.

A number of fire departments responded including the Munising Fire Department and the AuTrain, Rock River and Munising township departments.

Police agencies on the scene included the Alger County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police and the the Munising City Police Department.
