Marquette United Way hosting egg hunts
MARQUETTE — Marquette United Way is once again hosting its two egg hunts this year — the city-wide egg hunt and the children’s egg hunt at Presque Isle.
The city-wide egg hunt, a tradition in Marquette for 11 years, began Monday and has been a tradition in Marquette for 11 years. Twelve eggs were hidden throughout the greater Marquette area, within a 15 minute drive from downtown and each day clues have been posted on the Annual City-Wide Egg Hunt Facebook page to help people find them. For example, during 2024’s egg hunt, the clue “Take the catwalk for a closer view” referred to an egg hidden under the catwalk at the Marquette Harbor Lighthouse.
“For the city-wide hunt, anyone who finds an egg will win a prize basket filled with items from local businesses (like) gift cards or merch,” said Andrew Rickauer, executive eirector of United Way of Marquette County. The typical cash value of the prize baskets is approximately $250.
The city-wide egg hunt is sponsored by the following local businesses/organizations: Wattsson & Wattsson Jewelers, Lincoln Dental, Snowbound Books, Marquette GMC, Fraco Flooring and Tile and Yoopers United.
The children’s egg hunt at Presque Isle will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Presque Isle, featuring 7000 candy-filled eggs.
“The hunt starts at 11 a.m., but I recommend getting there by 10:30 because the eggs go quickly,” said Rickauer.
The event will be split into two different hunts – one for younger kids and one for older kids. The Easter Bunny and a fire truck will also be in attendance. Both egg hunts are free to participate in.
“This is a fun, family-friendly event,” said Rickauer. “The best egg hunt around!”
