Local high school student launches business directory

MARQUETTE — Anton Reinass, a freshman at Marquette Senior High School, has launched a local online business directory called FindLocal906, designed to help people more easily find and patronize local businesses in the Upper Peninsula.

The directory, which is ad-free and free to join for businesses and organizations, so far boasts over 100 businesses from across the U.P., from Marquette to Houghton to Manistique and beyond.

On FindLocal906, users can search for businesses individually or browse by category to find locations, hours, contact information, website links and a description of services.

Reinass said that he was motivated to develop FindLocal906 out of his dedication to the U.P. community and his desire to help local businesses, as well as his interest in computers and technology.

“Many small businesses struggle with SEO and web indexing, meaning they

don’t appear in search results,” said Reinass. “Larger platforms prioritize paid listings and national chains. FindLocal906 solves this by offering equal visibility without ads or pay-to-rank systems.”

FindLocal906 is not the first of Reinass’ enterprises; as a middle schooler, he started a business fixing rotary phones after his grandmother’s broke. Reinass also has a business titled IronNorth Innovations, which provides internet, voice, mobile and digital solutions to businesses.

FindLocal906’s community partners are Embers Credit Union and Select Reality. Reinass is currently looking for assistance in updating FindLocal906’s interactive map. Interested parties can contact hello@findlocal906.com or call 906-451-3457.
