BARAGA — To honor veterans who have relationships with the facility, Baraga County Memorial Hospital has introduced its Veteran Wall, an expanse of photographs highlighting individuals’ military service.
The idea for the wall was developed and organized by members of the BCMH Employee Recognition Committee, who wanted to create a space to honor staff and their immediate family members who have served the country, hospitals officials said. The wall is a visible reminder of the dedication, courage and commitment of those who are part of the BCMH community.
“We’re proud to recognize the service of our staff and their families through this Veteran Wall,” said CEO Rob Stowe. “It’s a meaningful way to honor their commitment and keep their stories visible within our hospital.”
This project was made possible with help from several individuals and local partners. Christine Bianco of Christine Bianco Photography brought the photos to life and Julie Djerf of Keweenaw Engraving created and donated the name tags. Homestead Graphics designed and installed the sign while hospital employee Gregg Fisher crafted and donated the emblems representing each branch of service.
The hospital maintenance team assisted in assembling and hanging the display.
While the wall is nearly complete, it will continue to grow over time as additional photos are shared. Staff are welcome to continue submitting photos of themselves or their immediate family members who have served so we can expand this tribute.
