U.P. Home Health & Hospice earns third star in We Honor Veterans program
MARQUETTE — U.P. Home Health & Hospice has been recognized with its third star in the We Honor Veterans program, a national initiative that strengthens hospice and home health care for America’s Veterans and their families.
We Honor Veterans is a program of the National Alliance for Care at Home and invites hospices, state hospice organizations, Hospice-Veteran Partnerships and VA facilities to participate in a pioneering effort centered on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening, and grateful acknowledgment of Veterans’ service. The program focuses on understanding the unique experiences and needs of Veterans and guiding them through their life stories toward a more peaceful and dignified end of life.
Earning a third star reflects U.P. Home Health & Hospice’s commitment to veteran-centered care and ongoing improvement in serving those who have served our country. Through the We Honor Veterans program, participating organizations work to:
• Promote Veteran-centric educational activities
• Increase organizational capacity to serve Veterans
• Support the development of strategic community and VA partnerships
• Increase access to care and improve quality for Veteran patients
“This recognition affirms our dedication to honoring Veterans not only for their service, but for who they are as individuals,” said Jennie Garrett-Bureau, CEO/administrator. “Each star represents meaningful progress in education, partnerships, and the quality of care we provide to Veterans and their families.” Cindy Nyquist, Owner/Founder, agreed, “For more than five decades, our mission has been rooted in service, respect, and compassion. Earning the third star in the We Honor Veterans program reflects our ongoing commitment to recognizing each Veteran’s story, honoring their sacrifice, and ensuring they receive the dignity and care they deserve.”
