Menominee woman sentenced to 18 months to 5 years for attempted possession of methamphetamine

MENOMINEE — Melissa Ann Koeppler, 39, of Menominee, was sentenced on Feb. 20 to 18 months to 5 years in prison for attempted possession of methamphetamine, announced Menominee County Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey T. Rogg.

The sentence was handed down by Judge Mary B. Barglind in the 41st Circuit Court.

According to the Menominee County Prosecuting Attorney’s office, Koeppler was initially placed on probation in December 2024 and “ordered to comply with certain terms and conditions of probation designed to rehabilitate her.”

A related abuse and neglect case was instituted around the same time in the Family Division of the 41st District Court before Judge Daniel E. Hass, with the goal of reunifying Koeppler with her children, who had been previously removed from her custody.

Additional jail time was ordered “in an effort to coerce compliance with the court’s orders following several probation violations in 2025,” according to the Menominee County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Koeppler later pled guilty to two additional probation violations, for use of methamphetamine and for failing to report to her probation officer.

Barlind stated that Koeppler “has not demonstrated progress or a willingness to change” while ordering her prison sentence. Hass terminated Koeppler’s parental rights to her four children.

“Ms. Koeppler’s cases illustrate the powerful hold that methamphetamine has,” said Rogg. “… Methamphetamine’s presence in Menominee County has grown in recent years. Combating this methamphetamine activity, at the user and supply levels, is among the highest priorities of my office.”
