MARQUETTE — The Cinder Pond Marina in the city of Marquette has sustained significant damage from the ice and wind from multiple storms this winter. More recently, the blizzard that occurred March 15-16 damaged piers 2 and 3 and they will require extensive repairs, city officials said.
City staff are currently working with the dock manufacturer to assess the docks and plan repairs for the 2026 season. Due to this damage, lingering ice pack and uncertainty regarding the weather, the season may be delayed.
Slip holders will still need to renew their slips before the April 15 deadline. If the season is delayed, slip holders will be refunded for the duration of the closure following the same policy as enforced in previous years.
Presque Isle Marina has not sustained any damage so far this year and is still set to open May 1, depending, of course, on the weather.
