MARINETTE — Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller reports on Feb. 25, Marinette County Sheriff’s Office detectives, with the assistance of the Marinette County Joint Special Response Team, executed a search warrant in the city of Peshtigo.

The search warrant was executed as part of an ongoing investigation of Internet Crimes Against Children. The investigation began in January after detectives received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Detectives worked to identify a suspect.

Following the execution of the search warrant, one suspect was taken into custody. The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office referred 23 counts of possession of child pornography to the Marinette County District Attorney’s Office. The suspect’s name is being withheld pending formal charges from the Marinette County District Attorney’s Office.

The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the city of Marinette Police Department, city of Peshtigo Police Department and the Wisconsin Department of Justice-DCI-Digital Evidence Unit.
