Ishpeming men arrested on meth charges in Roscommon County

ROSCOMMON COUNTY — Two men from Ishpeming were arrested on Feb. 10 downstate in Roscommon County and arraigned on methamphetamine charges.
At approximately 2:15 a.m. on Feb. 10, troopers from the Michigan State Police Houghton Lake post conducted a stop on I-75 in Richfield Township for a traffic violation.
During the roadside investigation, state police reports that troopers seized approximately 127 grams of suspected methamphetamine and five rounds of ammunition. Additional drug paraphernalia was also observed in the vehicle.
The driver, 37-year old William Helsten, and the passenger, 58-year-old Dennis Heikkila, both from Ishpeming, were arrested and lodged at the Roscommon County Jail without incident.

Heikkila was arraigned on Feb. 11 on one count of Controlled Substance – Delivery/Manufacture Methamphetamine. He was given a $100,000 cash or surety bond.
Their next court appearance is at 9 a.m. on Feb. 25.
