Agriculture for Tomorrow conference to return to Escanaba

ESCANABA — The Agriculture for Tomorrow conference is back in Escanaba on Tuesday, March 12 at the Joseph Heirman University Center, room 952 at Bay College.

The conference will feature a keynote address from Northern Michigan University Assistant Professor Lauren Olk-Szost, in a talk “highlighting how NMU’s Controlled Environment and Indoor Agriculture programs engage students in the future of food production through interdisciplinary training in multiple aspects of indoor growing,” according to a press release by the Michigan State University Extension Program.

After Olk-Szost’s talk there will be four concurrent education tracks focused on crops (commodity and specialty), livestock, local marketing and homestead topics. Event attendees can attend any or all of these sessions.

The event will also feature a conference trade show with local agencies and companies serving agriculture in the Upper Peninsula, and conference attendees can receive up to four Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development restricted use pesticide applicator recertification credits.
