TRENARY — This February in Trenary, it’s all about life, liberty and the pursuit of toilet paper.
The 33rd Trenary Outhouse Classic is set for Saturday, Feb. 28.
“Celebrating the 250th birthday of the US, our theme is all about patriotism and good ole American Spirit,” said Zac Besant, Vice President of the Trenary Outhouse Classic.
Gates for the event open at 11 a.m. and opening ceremonies are set to kick off at 1:30 p.m. Pins will be on sale in advance at the Trenary Tavern starting next week. Pins in advance will be $3, and $5 at the door.
“Come dressed as patriotic as you can — we will be having a competition for our best-dressed spectator,” Besant said.
He added that the anticipation for this year’s event is unparalleled.
“It truly is such a spectacular event and one must see to believe,” Besant said. “U.P. pride is in full force, and the excitement for this year is the most that I have ever seen. We have so many people registering their outhouses in advance.”
