MARQUETTE– Personnel from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a snowmobile accident along Trail 8 near the Peshekee Grade. A 73-year-old Ely Township snowmobile driver collided with a sled driven by a 15-year-old Michigamme boy on Thursday.

The 73-year-old, who police did notidentify, was thrown from his sled and injured. He was taken to UPHS-Bell for evaluation and then later transported to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of injuries.

“The accident remains under investigation,” said the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department in a press release. “Deputies would like to remind everyone to Ride Right while on the trails to reduce accidents.”

The sheriff’s department was assisted by Michigamme Township First Responders, Michigamme Township Fire Department and UPHS EMS.
