MARQUETTE — St. Vincent de Paul of Marquette will be holding a fundraiser for a local family who lost their home to a fire. The event will take place at the Marquette thrift store on Friday.

Leanne Swan and her family suffered a loss of their home and belongings due to a fire on Thanksgiving. Swan received burns while rescuing her son, who is now recovering at the University of Michigan Burn Center.

All Marquette SVdP sales on Friday will be donated to Swan and her family. The store will also be accepting additional donations for the family. These contributions will assist with fire expenses and medical bills for her and her son.

“Leanne loved helping the community during her time at St. Vincent de Paul, so we want to return the favor,” said Charmaine Urbanski, thrift store manager, in a news release. “We appreciate the community coming together for a neighbor in need.”
