Duplex destroyed in early morning Painesdale fire
Fire fighters returned the scene of an early morning fire Thursday in Painesdale. The initial alarm was turned in shortly after 3 a.m. Fire fighters extinguished the blaze and left the scene only to return a few hours later when the blaze reignited. PAINESDALE – No injuries were reported as the result of an early Thursday morning structure fire in Painesdale. The structure, a duplex, is located on the corner of M-26 and Baltic Street in Painesdale.
At approximately 3:14 a.m. Thursday morning, firefighters with South Range and Adams Township fire departments, along with Hurontown Fire and Rescue, were called to the scene. irefighters extinguished the blaze and left the scene. However, at approximately 9:30 a.m. firefighters were recalled to the scene after reports that the blaze had rekindled.
A deputy with the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office said he does not believe any injuries were reported in either incident. While the duplex was occupied at the time of the blaze it is believed they had escaped without harm. No other details were available at press time.
