MSP 8th District Stuff a Blue Goose picking up speed

NEGAUNEE — The Michigan State Police 8th District encompassing the entire Upper Peninsula is hosting its annual “Stuff a Blue Goose” toy and food drives across multiple communities in thew month of December.

Community members are encouraged to drop off donations to help local families in need.

“We truly appreciate the partnerships with local businesses, the generosity of our fellow Yoopers, and the opportunity to enjoy the great relationships we have with our community members through fun holiday events like these,” said Lt. Ben Eckola, MSP Eighth District public information officer.

The following MSP posts and specific sites are involved:

• Sault Ste. Marie post: Dec. 1-15 at Rodenroth Motors, Fernelius Hyundai, Soo Motors, in Sault Ste Marie and O’Connor’s in Pickford. Accepting new, unwrapped toys during regular business hours.

• St. Ignace post: Dec. 1-15 at Sarah Jones Ford. Accepting new, unwrapped toys during regular business hours.

• Gladstone post: Saturday, Dec. 20, 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. at Elmer’s County Market and Walmart in Escanaba. Accepting toys and non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots.

• Iron Mountain post: Thursday, Dec. 11, 2- 5 p.m. at Walmart in Iron Mountain. Troopers will collect new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots.

• Calumet post: Thursday, Dec. 11, 1- 4 p.m. at Pat’s Foods in L’Anse and Pat’s Foods in Calumet. Accepting non-perishable food donations. Pre-made food bags will also be available for purchase and placed in the “Blue Goose” collection vehicle.

All events are open to the community and donations help support local children and families during the holiday season.
