“This event is especially important this year because many people in our community are feeling the weight of uncertainty, rising costs, and ongoing stress,” said event organizer Dawn Lambert. “For some, the festive season can highlight feelings of isolation or loss rather than joy. Creating a moment of togetherness right now offers reassurance that no one is alone and that the community truly cares.”

Lambert said this event also offers a chance to pause and reconnect with what Christmas is about — hope, generosity and compassion.

“By coming together this year, we’re not just celebrating a season; we’re strengthening community bonds and offering encouragement at a time when it’s needed more than ever,” she said. “Bringing the community together face-to-face helps create warmth and belonging, whether that’s through, food, or simply shared laughter. It can lift spirits, reduce feelings of isolation and remind people that kindness and generosity are still very much alive. Even small moments — like neighbors chatting — can leave lasting, positive feelings that carry through the season.”
