Community Foundation of Marquette County supports emergency overflow shelter through Zacchaeus Fund

MARQUETTE – The Community Foundation of Marquette County, a tax-exempt, nonprofit, publicly supported philanthropic organization with the long-term goal of building permanent, endowed funds, for a broad-based public benefit, is coordinating with area partners to help address emergency shelter needs in response to community concerns and feedback.

Thanks to the donors supporting the Zacchaeus Fund, the foundation is assisting in meeting urgent overflow shelter needs in the city of Marquette and county-wide. This support will allow Room at The Inn to coordinate safe accommodation for individuals and families experiencing homelessness during the month of December.

The Zacchaeus Fund, established to assist with recovery and homelessness services, is providing resources to help secure temporary lodging for those who cannot be accommodated in existing shelters. This donor-supported initiative reflects our shared commitment to taking care of our neighbors during the holiday season and beyond. Foundation officials said when people work together to keep neighbors safe with stable places to turn, the well being of our entire community is strengthened.

Community members who wish to contribute can make donations to the Zacchaeus Fund through the Community Foundation of Marquette County. The Zacchaeus Fund supports local agencies, including the Marquette Women’s Center, Great Lakes Recovery Centers, Superior Connections, Room at the Inn and The Janzen House.
