MARQUETTE– Bill Nordeen, Marquette County commissioner, volunteer fire fighter and more has announced he is running for judge of the 96th District Court.

Bill Nordeen is a seven-term member of the Marquette County Board of Commissioners, where he serves as vice chair. He looks to replace Judge Roger Kangas.

Nordeen, born and raised in Gwinn, graduated from Michigan Tech University with an engineering degree and then worked for U..S Naval Intelligence in Washington, D.C., for eight years. He then went to Cooley Law School and has been practicing law in Marquette since 2008.

If elected Nordeen would need to step down from his vice chair position on the Marquette County Board to serve six years as judge.
