Thanksgiving options for those looking to eat out

MARQUETTE — Thanksgiving sees a lot of restaurants close for the holiday, as families ready to cook a fine holiday meal; but those who aren’t so kitchen savant are left with little options. Marquette does have a list of options for those looking to eat out on Thanksgiving.

From breakfast and brunch to full Thanksgiving dinners at local restaurants, here’s where to find everything you need for an easy and delicious holiday in Marquette County.

• Big Boy Restaurant, located at 1950 U.S. 41 in Marquette. Open on Thanksgiving from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. with its Thanksgiving buffet. No other options will be available. Past Thanksgivings featured ham, turkey, chicken, mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet Potatoes and many other holiday favorites.

• Dry Dock Bar and Grill, located at 5029 U.S. 41 in Harvey. Open regular hours, 7 a.m.-midnight on Thanksgiving with a special Thanksgiving meal available.

• Holiday Inn Thanksgiving buffet located at 1951 U.S. 41 Thursday, Nov. 27 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Call to reserve your spot. 906-225-1351 or 906-315-4215.

“For our main dishes we have flank steak,” said a front desk worker for Holiday Inn. “Chef carved slow roasted turkey, honey glazed ham, garlic mashed potatoes, candied sweet potato, Chef’s seasonal veggie medley, garden salad with assorted toppings, fresh made diner roll with cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, apple pie, cake bars, cookies and more.”

• Huron Mountain Bakery in Marquette and Ishpeming, located at 1301 Front Street and U.S. 41 respectively, crafts a variety of sweet pastries, treats, and artisan sandwiches on their freshly baked breads. Check their sandwich schedule to see what’s on tap for the day. Open 7 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Pumpkin pies will be first come first served, pre-orders can call ahead at any time up until Thanksgiving.

• Ishpeming Elks Lodge located at 597 Lakeshore Drive will be hosting a free Thanksgiving dinner. It will be celebrated on Thanksgiving Day, from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Call 906-451-4951 for deliveries.

Dine-in and takeout are available from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. and reservations for all meals are required by calling 906-451-4951. Reservations must be made by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

• Ojibwa Casino, in Harvey, located at 105 Acre Trail. They will have a Thanksgiving Day Feast at Superior Eats from 1 p.m.-8 p.m. Turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, sweet potatoes, corn, dinner rolls and pumpkin pie for just $15 per person.

• Slabz Bar and Grill, in the Ramada Inn, located at 412 W. Washington St. The will provide a Thanksgiving breakfast from 7 a.m.-noon and will be closed for lunch and dinner.

• Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly, free dinner at the Elks Lodge, 127 N. Front St., from 2 p.m. Call 906-273-2575. for deliveries.
