MARQUETTE — This Thanksgiving will be double the fun as Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will pardon not one but two lucky turkeys, and input is being sought from the public to help name them.

“We are inviting Michigobblers of all ages (especially kids!) to submit suggestions for what to name this year’s pardoned pair,” reads a news release. “Since there are two turkeys, be sure to send in two names that go together as well as our feathered friends do. As we approach Thanksgiving, our team wants to say ‘thank you’ to YOU! We are grateful for your commitment to helping us build a brighter future for Michigan. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas. Thank you for staying engaged. We hope that you will continue using your voice to help us move Michigan forward — we are honored to serve Michiganders like you.”

The turkeys will be pardoned on Tuesday, Nov. 18. Submit name suggestions by midnight on Sunday, Nov. 9, and follow along on Whitmer’s social media to see more about how the winning pair of names will be chosen. There is no limit to the number of suggestions you can submit. Visit content.govdelivery.com/accounts/MIEOG/bulletins/3fa04a4 to submit your name suggestions.

Starting at $3.23/week.
