ISHPEMING — The Ishpeming Elks Lodge will be hosting its Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thanksgiving Day. Dine-in and takeout are available from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and reservations for all meals are required by calling 906-451-4951. Reservations must be made by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

“This event is more important than ever because food insecurity is on the rise and many families are struggling to afford basic groceries as costs continue to climb,” said Dawn Lambert, event organizer. “With inflation, reduced pandemic-era assistance programs and seasonal increases in utility and heating costs, more households are being forced to make a tough choice between paying bills and putting food on the table. In short, as food insecurity worsens, events like this don’t just provide meals — they build awareness, solidarity and hope at a time when many need it most.”

Lambert said everyone is welcome to this event.

“It’s open to anyone in the community across Marquette County — whether you or your family could use some extra support right now or if you are here to lend a helping hand,” she said. “The goal is to create a warm inclusive space where no one feels left out. It doesn’t matter your age, background, or situation — we come together to support one another. Whether you’re offering help or in need of it, you belong here.”

She said that this event means so much to her because it stands as a reminder of what community really is.

“(It’s) people coming together to care for one another,” Lambert said. “It’s not just about proving food, it’s about offering hope, connection and kindness. Seeing neighbors help neighbors, no matter their situation, shows the true spirit of Marquette County. To me, that’s what makes this event so special.”

Starting at $3.23/week.
