ISHPEMING — A fire broke out in the Country Village in Ishpeming, but no significant damage was done, thanks to the fast reactions of Ishpeming emergency services. The fire took place in the Country Village Laundromat, just after 8 p.m. Tuesday.
A local business owner in the Country Village said they got a call their business was on fire, but after checking the cameras it showed emergency services acting to put out a fire in the laundromat.
“This isn’t the first time for the laundry mat, people put dumb stuff in there,” said a nearby business owner, who wanted to remain anonymous. “That is the third time in the three years I’ve been here.”
The laundromat is still operating as usual.
“I poked my head into the laundromat and you can’t smell smoke or nothing in there,” said the nearby business owner. “The fire department always does a good job there. It was perfectly fine there.”
Businesses located next to the laundromat — Pioneer Quick Lube and Sweet Fire Tobacco — were contacted and reported no damage from the fire.
On scene were the Ishpeming Fire Department, the Ishpeming Police Department and others.
The Ishpeming Fire Department and a laundromat representative could not be reached for comment.
