MARQUETTE — Marquette Police Department officers were called to a location off Presque Isle Avenue in north Marquette Wednesday morning to the scene of an apparent suicide.

Several people posted on social media that a body was observed during their early morning commute. The suicide was confirmed by Marquette police Detective Capt. Christopher Aldrich who declined to comment further on the matter.

The Mining Journal’s long-term policy on suicide is to report on it only if it is done in the public arena. If the act takes place privately, the Journal will not report on it.
