Queen City Trick or Trot set for Oct. 25

MARQUETTE — If you’re looking for some spooky Halloween fun, look no further.

The 10th annual Queen City Trick or Trot 5K/10K and Kids Monster Mile on Saturday, Oct. 25. The Trick or Trot 10K also serves as the Upper Peninsula 10K Championship and participation will add 10 bonus points to racers’ point total for those who have signed up for the 2025 Run The U.P. Challenge Race Series.

All participants in the 5K and 10K events will receive a medal, a giveaway from Donckers, and a giveaway from Provisions MQT. The Monster Mile participants will receive a giveaway from Provisions MQT and a Monster Mile medal.

Proceeds from this race will benefit JJPacks and the Negaunee High School Athletics Booster Club.

This year, the course will begin on the 100 block of Washington Street, right in front of Yoop-Phoria, Digs and Richardson Jewelers. Participants will race down Washington Street, take a right on Front Street and a left onto Spring Street. Once they approach the bike path, they will head South on the Bike Path. The 5K turnaround will be indicated with signage and will be located before the Carp River Bridge. The 10K turnaround will be located on the bike path before the Michigan Welcome Center and will be indicated by an Aid Station. Both races will finish on the bike path between Spring Street and Baraga Avenue.

The Kids Monster Mile will begin on the bike path in front of the Thill’s parking lot and will head north on the bike path, turning around just after the entrance to Mattson Lower Harbor Park.

The post race party and awards ceremony will be held at Ore Dock Brewing Company from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The overall male and female winners in the 5K and 10K will receive a free pair of shoes from Queen City Running Company, and there will also be age groups awards for both events.

Organizers ask that participants be sure to get their most creative Halloween costume out for a chance to win a prize in the costume contest. The costume contest will be judged in two ways:

1: Individuals (first place, $50 gift certificates to QCRC, second place, $25 gift certificates to QCRC, third place, $10 gift certificates to QCRC)

2: Pairs/family: (first place, $50 gift certificates to QCRC, second and third place $25 gift certificates to QCRC, third Place $10 gift certificates to QCRC)

Age group awards will be as follows:

Kids Monster Mile: 12 and under (first place, second place, third place)

10K: Winner in each age bracket (10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+)

5K: Winner in each age bracket (10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+)

The awards ceremony will begin at 5 p.m.

Entry price is $40 for the 10K, $30 for the 5K, and $10 for the Kids Monster Mile.
