NEGAUNEE — Large crowds gathered at Super One in Negaunee this week to visit the iconic Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, the first time it has visited the area since 2019.

“I’ve been waiting for a long time, since like August,” said 6-year-old Piper.

Children and adults alike were given wiener whistles, post cards, stickers, coupons and more.

“It’s something that always makes people happy,” said employee Camila Fowler, also known as Hotdogger’ Cook ‘Em Cam. “Sometimes people need something to brighten their day, and I’m happy to help.”

The fleet of six, more than 20 foot long hot dog vehicles, have toured the highways of the United States since 1988. It dates back to the origins in 1883, when Bavarian immigrant Oscar F. Mayer started the business.

Children’s Museum in Marquette on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m, and will be giving away free hot dogs. After this visit, the Wienermobile will be moving on to Wisconsin.
