New air service coming to Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport

SAWYER — A new airline is preparing to start operations at Sawyer.

Officials at Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport have announced that United Airlines will begin offering flights between Marquette and Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

Beginning May 21, United will operate three daily flights on a Bombardier CRJ-550 aircraft, according to a facility press release. This new service provides enhanced connectivity for Upper Peninsula travelers to one of the nation’s largest airline hubs, offering convenient access to hundreds of domestic and international destinations through United’s extensive network.

“We’re thrilled to welcome United Airlines to Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport,” said David Erhart, airport manager. “This partnership expands travel options for our residents and visitors while strengthening the economic vitality of our region.”

The new service underscores the growing demand for convenient, reliable air travel in the Upper Peninsula and reflects United Airlines’ commitment to connecting smaller communities with major global markets.
