Florio named U.P. Realtor of the Year
Dawn Florio
MARQUETTE– The Upper Peninsula Association of REALTORS® named the 2025 Upper Peninsula Realtor of the Year, Dawn Florio. Dawn Florio is an associate broker with RE/MAX 1st Realty.
“Each year, the REALTOR® of the Year Award is presented to a UPR member who exemplifies exceptional professionalism, service and leadership within the real estate industry and their community,” said the Upper Peninsula Association of REALTORS®.
Florio has over a decade of service in the real estate industry.
“I’ve worn many hats and held various roles in the real estate landscape, each contributing to my deep understanding of the market and commitment to helping you achieve your real estate dreams,” said Florio. “As an associate broker at Remax 1st Realty, my passion for real estate is more than just a job; it’s a way of life. Having grown up in Marquette County, I have an intimate knowledge of the local area, its neighborhoods and the unique charm it holds.”
Florio started as an assistant to a seasoned broker, now 12 years later she has a service area of over four counties including Baraga, Marquette, Delta and Alger counties.
“Dawn was selected for her innovative approach to real estate, outstanding business achievements and deep commitment to giving back,” said UPAR. “From serving on the UPR Board of Directors and participating in RPAC fundraising to volunteering through music, education and local nonprofits. Her passion, positivity and dedication to both clients and colleagues make her a shining example of what it means to be a REALTOR®.”
One of the lead reasons why Florio was selected was innovating the real estate field by using virtual reality, to sell houses that were in the process of being built in Negaunee.
“I took a visual arts team with me to the builder in Wisconsin,” said Florio. “We adapted all of those with a virtual reality goggle set… You could actually be in the house and see what it felt like to be in the wildflower home builds. We sold about three of four before we broke ground for the project in May. I was the first agent in the U.P. to utilize that type of technology.”
Florio believes there is more to being a realtor than just business and the exchange of a home.
“Real estate is not just a transaction for me; it’s about helping you find your place in the world, your corner of God’s Country to call home or invest in,” she said. “With a client-centered approach and a wealth of local and industry knowledge, I’m committed to turning your real estate aspirations into reality. When you work with me, you’re gaining a trusted partner, a local expert and a dedicated advocate in your real estate journey.”
Florio said she feels honored for receiving the award.
“It is a huge honor,” it is a combination of nominations from my colleagues and the reason it means so much because it shows the impact I am having across the U.P., she said. “It means that I am helping people, I have been really grateful to be the recipient… I really love what I do and really love those that I do it for.
