MARQUETTE — Old, worn out and discarded electronics pose a serious disposal problem for many communities and if improperly disposed of can create certain water quality and health risks.

Because of this, the Superior Watershed Partnership in cooperation with the city of Marquette, the Great Lakes Climate Corps and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy, will host a free collection of unwanted electronics this Saturday.

The collection, open to all residents of Marquette County, will take place from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Marquette Municipal Service Center, located at 1100 Wright St., Marquette. There will be a $5 fee.

The collection will accept most consumer electronics and home office equipment including computers, monitors, laptops, printers, TVs, cell phones, desktop fax machines, gaming consoles, DVD and VCR players, desktop scanners and printers, and keyboards, cords and routers.

So-called white goods, items such as refrigerators, dish washers, coffee pots, microwaves, vacuums and lamps, etc., and more, will not be accepted.

For more information, visit www.superiorwatersheds.org.

Starting at $3.23/week.
