MARQUETTE– For its second year in a row, the Northern Michigan University Wildcat Farmers Market is set to return from 3-7 p.m. today behind the Northern Center.

“So this is our second year of the farmer’s market,” said Associated Students of Northern Michigan University President Cassidy Gibson. “This is a community event we are putting on to link that community and student aspect. Because that is one of the big things Northern (Michigan University) needs to work on I think.”

Last year saw around 50 vendors at the Wildcat Farmers Market and a little more than that is expected at the upcoming market. This free, community-wide event features a myriad of vendors selling fresh produce, live music, Zumba and Yoga, flowers, yard games, art and more.

“Its a good mix of student vendors and community vendors,” said Gibson.

This year will see some events like a tie-dying booth and free Zumba, paid for by ASNMU. It is open to all NMU students and community members.

“We just want to put on an event that can bring students more into the mix of Marquette’s community,” said Gibson.
