GWINN — The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter is hosting a party to celebrate its 50th anniversary from noon to 3 p.m. on Oct. 12, and the public is invited.

The celebration will take place in the community room at UPAWS with an anniversary cake and snacks. There will also be a shelter open house and tours of the facility will be offered.

The first 100 people will receive door prizes, and their names will be added to a drawing for additional prizes including a Paws Park Pass.

UPAWS is located at 815 South State Highway M553.
