Traffic stop results in two drug arrests

ESCANABA — A traffic stop in the city of Escanaba resulted in two arrests and the recovery of illegal drugs.

At approximately 8:50 p.m. Thursday, an Escanaba Public Safety Officer requested a canine unit to assist with a traffic stop the officer had made. According to a Friday morning press release, a positive canine alert resulted in two arrests and the recovery of roughly 10 grams of methamphetamine, along with a small amount of cocaine.

Follow-up investigation resulted in the recovery of an additional 20 grams of methamphetamine.

Escanaba Public Safety was assisted by Escanaba Public Safety Canine and the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team.
